This 1:11.5 scale, 108″ (2.72m) span PBY Catalina was supplied to Fighteraces for completion in March 2022. Originally manufactured by ‘Authentic Mouldings’ in New Zealand, these kits were distributed by Chiltern Models in the UK in the late 80’s and early 90’s. This model was started 20+ yrs ago & has been in storage ever since. The basic kit comprises a moulded epoxy glass fuselage/hull + centre section skin with nacelles, cowls & tip floats with all flying surfaces being traditionally built in balsa & ply. Originally intended to be glo powered (.60 2-stroke – .90 4-stroke), the model has been converted to electric running a twin 6s power system. Retracts are supplied by Century Jet Models with radio by Spectrum with Savox servos all round.
